The 82nd Academy Awards in an Alternate Dimension

Last night I found myself transported to an alternate dimension where things happen differently, especially when I don't like how they happen in our dimension.

SOME RESULTS OF THE 82nd ACADEMY AWARDS:

BEST EDITING:

Inglourious Basterds

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY:

Quentin Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds

BEST DIRECTOR:

Quentin Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds

BEST PICTURE:

Inglourious Basterds

Which awards happened differently in your alternate dimension?

Good one, Simon. She was excellent. And Diane Kruger for Best Supporting Actress.

What the *bleep* is that thing Tarantino's holding?!

Tom - I have no idea! Some award for grindhouse movies or something. I thought it was an appropriate alternate dimension "Oscar."

This post just makes me sad. At least, Avatar didn't win best picture. The Academy members had that decency, but I still wonder how much people like The Hurt Locker because it makes them feel good about the Iraq war.

Yes, FilmDr. - The Hurt Locker was not intense enough for me. Something like The Deer Hunter shows absolutely nothing good about being in a war; there isn't even any good-natured camaraderie between the men. It all sucks. Also, The Hurt Locker is careful to show the soldiers as good soldiers. People get nervous about war movies that seem to do a disservice to "our men over there." But WAR itself does a disservice to our men over there.

I know this is late, but just wanted to say thanks for this post. We can dream, can't we?

Yes, that's the fun of a movie blog. We get to express our opinions about movies - and there's a lot of eloquence out there that's so much more enjoyable to read than other film critics' opinions.
